Carolina Black

BIO

Lyricist Carolina Black was born May 4, 1980 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The eldest son of Q.C. and Brenda Walls, Carolina Black's passion for creative arts began to manifest itself in the form of music at an early age. In 1992 Carolina took his first shot at creating hip hop music. Being raised in the golden age of hip hop, during a time when lyrics were crucial, and having a keen ear for music are all important pieces to Carolina's success. It was only in 2004 that the artist began to see music as an viable career choice. Also an accomplished chef, Carolina placed his mic on the back burner to focus on a career in food shortly after the release of his 2005 album "Truth, Trust, and Triumph", an album that indie-rock.com called "the album of the millennium". With a strong local buzz and support, Carolina was prepared to take the game by the horns.

While working on his follow up to his first album, his father and uncle passed away in the same year with virtually no lapse in time. These events took the wind out of Black's sails and the almost completed album titled "A Window In Time" was shelved, with a small handful of copies finding their way into the local music scene of his community.

Carolina Black released one song officially during that time. "One Day" was a track released in support of the International Day of Peace, a day sanctioned by the United Nations. Carolina became one of the first and few hip hop artists to ever perform at the United Nations in NY.

Afterward Carolina would take a couple years away from music to deal with his loses. During this time Carolina would mature as a writer, a person, and an all around performer. A complete artist would emerge. When Carolina came back to music in 2008, everything about the artist that was good, had become great. It was time to give music his undivided attention.

Black began working on his latest project early 2010. Slated for a winter release the album, working titled "The Key Of Black" will be one for the times. Produced by long time friend and producer The Arcitype, due for a release on AR Classic Records, the album promises to cross barriers very seldom crossed in hip hop. Since his return, Black has performed with hip hop icons such as Edo G, Masta Ace, Jeru the Damaja, Jay Electronica, Ayatollah, Akrobatic, and many others.

Dominik Omega

BIO

Originally from St. Louis, MO, Omega relocated with his family to the Northeast in 1985. The transition to the rural isolated Berkshires left much to be desired for the active and creative Omega. At the age of 14, after getting kicked out of his house, he began his battle with the Foster Care system.

Finding comfort in the booming sounds of early '90s hip-hop, Omega found his voice in the art of freestyle rhyme. Constant battling with other emcees for the thrill of attaining lyrical mastery helped Omega quickly rise to the top of the game.

Searching for new emcees to battle, Omega moved back home to Western Massachusetts. Here he continued his rap career, joining forces with emcee Rev. Trxx, with whom Omega formed his first crew, Knoble Gasses. Feeling a need for change and challenge, Omega left the East coast for a stint in Long Beach, California. While attending school for animation, Omega stayed on his grind and was quickly embraced into the Long Beach hip-hop community. However he quickly returned to the Berkshires after only a year to reunite with his fellow Knoble soldiers.

At 23, Omega became a father. He took a hiatus from his rap career to focus on his new responsibilities, but soon found that his need to work in the studio and perform on stage were so strong that his life felt unbalanced. After two years, Omega has
returned with a renewed sense of belonging and a determined intensity. He has picked up where he left off with his usual blend of strength, wit and perception.

Lightfoot

BIO

Lightfoot was born in 1987 in a small town within Arkansas. At the mere age of six months he was adopted and moved out to Boston, Massachusetts. He lived in the very diverse neighborhood of Jamaica Plains. There, he was exposed to an array of musical cultures. From old school feel good hip-hop, to bass thumping reggaeton, and to the soothing sounds of jazz.

Lightfoot began producing as a junior in high school after being exposed to the hip-hop sounds of Atmosphere, MF Doom and Black Moon. After completing high school he went to UMASS Amherst. At UMASS he realized how much he really wanted to pursue production. So he decided to leave UMASS and attend the Center for Digital Imaging Arts of Boston University to study audio production and technology.

Shortly after graduating from there Lightfoot was able to get an internship at The Bridge Sound And Stage Studio. Under the teachings of Janos Fulop, also known as The Arcitype, Lightfoot quickly began developing his own unique production style.

Lightfoot’s debut production skills were heard on Dominik Omega’s One of The Greatest Doing It, which has already gotten rave reviews.

This is just the beginning of Lightfoot’s career. He’s constantly learning new ways to better his production. Learning is a never-ending process for him.

Lightfoot’s production is definitely on the rise so keep an ear out.

The Arcitype

BIO

Born in New York City's Little Italy in the early 80s, The Arcitype's love for music began at the young age of five when his father enrolled him in music school and surrounded him with different Instruments. Moving from the New York to the rural and isolated Western Massachusetts, The Arcitype continued his musical education and began playing Classical piano. Influenced by his guitar rocker uncle, he engendered a strong love for the blues, and began picking licks on the old beat-up Fender Strat his uncle gave him.

As the lead guitarist with Blues/Funk group Tip Top Deluxe, The Arcitype played shows to packed houses. Touring the New England Tri-State area, Tip Top Deluxe headlined shows at various clubs, bars and festivals from 1998-2000. When the group split in 2000, The Arcitype moved onto a solo career in Acoustic Rock and Blues. The need for demos spurred his interest in the recording process, and led him to set up a home studio.

By 2002, The Arcitype had branched out into Hip Hop, seeing it as the modern day interpretation of the traditional Blues he loves. Utilizing his diverse musical background, The Arcitype began creating Hip Hop beats.

Leaving the Berkshires for Boston, The Arcitype pursued a degree in Audio Production and Music at Emerson College. It was during this time that he began to establish himself in the Boston Hip Hop scene, forming relationships with the city's best emcees, other producers and various promoters.

VICEVERSAH

BIO

VICE was raised on Gun's n Roses, Nirvana, Wu-Tang Clan, Rage Against the Machine, Doc Cheatham, Biggie, and Led Zeppelin among others. His razor sharp delivery and keen ear set him apart from other rappers.

Born in NYC but raised in the suburbs, rhyming was an unlikely trail for VICE to blaze. He started performing at the age of fifteen at political open mics, spitting scathing verses that caught the attention of anyone within earshot. However, a lack
of original production kept him from making headway into a real project. A 2002 EP was circulated through the Boston area and received critical acclaim, but the disc was not actually replicated officially.

In 2003, after having dropped out of NYU a year earlier, VICE linked up with producer, The Arcitype, and the two immediately began making track after track. At this point, it was clear that an album was in the works, and stirred up by the
criticism of skeptics, VICE wryly named the album "Career Suicide."

Since then VICE has been no stranger to the stage. He has performed at some of the Northeast's most reputable venues, such as The Middle East Downstairs, Harper's Ferry, and The Bowery Poetry Club. VICE even had the opportunity to perform inside the general assembly hall at The United Nations in 2007 for their International Day Of Peace celebrations. VICE has shared the stage with some of hip-hop's greatest legends and most exciting new artists, including:

Jay Electronica
Jeru The Damaja
Raekwon of Wu-Tang
N.O.R.E.
Made Men
Edo. G
Immortal Technique
Freeway
Styles P
M.O.P.
Dead Prez
Rapper Big Pooh (of Little Brother)
Skyzoo
Torae
Zion I
Brother Ali
and more...

With multiple albums under his belt, his selection as one of URB Magazine's Next 1000 Artists and as one Hip Hop Official's Artist of the Week Battle finalists, and his next highly anticipated LP on the horizon, VICE can only foresee himself as a powerful voice for a generation who may rather remain silent.
